The week of Nadia
Week 48. In ‘the week of’, the Project Managers, or other team members, of goMICE share their (work) week in a new blog. This week, you can look and read along with the week of goMICE Project Manager Nadia!
An early start to the work week. At 07:20 AM, Anita and I leave from Schiphol to visit three popular incentive destinations. We arrive at the first destination within two hours, and we visit several hotels and restaurants we often offer in our group trips. We find it important to regularly test whether the restaurants and hotels still offer the quality we value as goMICE. In the evening, we fly to our next destination, for which some beautiful trips are planned in 2018!
Due to the winter season, many hotels and restaurants are currently closed, but it is our task to ‘see through’ that. Are the hotels, which are sometimes familiar and sometimes new, suitable and do they meet our requirements so that we can offer them to our customers? Hotels often change certain parts of the rooms or public spaces in the winter period, which can make the hotel suddenly, or no longer, suitable for a certain group. After a successful morning with visits to different hotels, it is time to discuss new activities on site with our suppliers.
Once the evening arrives, we get to enjoy all the beautiful restaurants in the area again. This evening, we discovered a true gem, a special location with a history, where meat is grilled on large barbecues.
Already the last day of this inspection trip. We leave for our third and last sunny destination. We travel quite a distance on foot, but it is definitely worth it! From various rooftops in the city, we discover beautiful places and enjoy great bites and drinks, but we mainly test all dishes for quality and suitability. We then carefully put together menus, specifically for each target group. At the end of the day, the inspection trip is over and we fly back to Schiphol.
Back at the office, we start the day with a short meeting with the team to catch up on the past few days and exchange important news. After being away from the office for three days, all this information must be processed quickly and I pick up where I left my ongoing projects, which means the day flies by very quickly! We send our various quotations again, ranging from winter sports trips to training sessions and parties. But we also receive confirmations, including from an orchestra of 50 people, which will be going on a distant trip (with all of their instruments)!
After taking care of most of the work on Thursday, we make sure to make Friday a nice and cosy last day of the week. However, my weekend will not be starting at the end of this Friday this time, as we are organising a great Saint Nicholas party for a customer tomorrow!
Our work often continues during weekends. Today, we get play Saint Nicholas at a beautiful castle in the middle of the country and receive his (circus) Petes. Roughly 60 children and their parents travelled to Woerden to make it a fun and enjoyable party.
There is singing, dancing, and candy all around. After all the children receive a beautiful gift from Saint Nicholas, we finish with delicious pancakes.
It was a busy and intense week, but a very beautiful one! Now it’s time to unwind and enjoy the rest of the weekend!
