The week of Moniek
Week 12. In ‘the week of’, the Project Managers, or other team members, of goMICE share their (work) week in a new blog. This week, you can look and read along with the week of goMICE Project Manager Moniek!
I have been working as a Project Manager at GoMICE for a few months now. Time flies, I have been allowed to do so much already! Below, I describe my work week.
This weekend, my group returned from Berlin. I organised a 3-day incentive trip for a Belgian client from the IT sector, ‘Brainbridge’, and I was very curious how my group experienced this trip. Of course, I spoke with the client at length and they were full of praise about the organisation of this trip. She immediately sent me a nice group photo from their bicycle trip through Berlin.
We also have a fantastic app at goMICE. It was developed exclusively by us and can be fully customised per trip. A beautiful tool that truly completes the client’s travel experience. In this app, clients can find all information about the trip: a time schedule (programme), route maps, sharing pictures and a chat function. We used this tool for the trip to Berlin and received great responses from the client.
On Tuesday morning, the sun was shining and I went to the office on foot. I have been living at Katendrecht since January, just a 10-minute walk from our office at Kop Van Zuid. I walk past the Fenix Foodhall, across the bridge, past Hotel New York and can see the water taxis coming in the distance. A beautiful sight, especially in the sun! This gives me the energy to start the day with full enthusiasm. Today, I am looking for flight tickets for a group that is going to Valencia and I am searching for suitable party locations for a group of 100 people in Barcelona.
On Wednesday, I mainly worked on organising an incentive trip to Maastricht. Maastricht is a beautiful destination as an incentive trip close to home. The hilly landscape of Limburg offers lots of fun nature activities for groups. This city also has a lot to offer in terms of its cuisine. Of course, cave-biking near Valkenburg is an absolute must during an incentive to Maastricht. And honestly, I feel very much at home here, as I am from Limburg myself.
Arriving at the office on Thursday morning, I can already see the giant AIDA in front of our building. It has been a while, but the cruise season has started again. Very large cruise ships will now be docking here every Thursday morning. Our building is located next to the Cruise Terminal. We normally have a view of the Erasmus Bridge, but this is a nice change. Coincidentally, I am also working on planning a cruise crossing from IJmuiden to Newcastle for a large group of students today.
Friday, the last day of our work week before the weekend starts. Today, I am working on a group trip to Ho Chi Minh City for a university of applied sciences in the Netherlands, and I am looking for different meeting locations in the Netherlands to organise a meeting for the same client. Today, we end the work week with a super cool activity! We were picked up at the quay of Kop van Zuid at 18.00 PM. We sailed a Rib Boat through the Port of Rotterdam. This super-fast boat took us past the industrial harbour, the SS Rotterdam, the Erasmus Bridge, the Willems Bridge and then to the Old Port to dine at Kaat Mossel. A great end to a busy work week. We are a close and fun team, partly due to teambuilding activities like this!
